Yesterday morning.
While driving to the lake to let Annie run around for a while, I was listening to KBSU on the radio. The host, not a DJ, Jeff Esworthy, broadcasting from St. Paul Minnesota, recommended and then played a tune by a Bill Whalen, an Irishman composer.
Let’s unpack this.
First of all, my car is heated and very comfortable. The temperature outside reads 17 degrees and I am comfortable in my heated car. A miracle. I am drinking coffee grown somewhere in the world, with a supplemental collagen peptide from a company in Oxnard, CA. A miracle. The radio is picking up a man whom I have never met from Minnesota. A miracle. He plays a tune by a man on the other side of the world that is so engaging that I can’t believe we have been sharing a planet. Amazing. Annie and I cover several miles in the predawn cold. I drive back home with a second cup of coffee that I keep in a thermos. A thermos is truly amazing. I arrive home, explain to Mrs. Swaim what I have heard, and within minutes she has located it on iTunes and it is playing in our home. Incredible. I take a hot shower, from water that unfailing pours out of the wall! Another miracle.
I think I often forget how incredible the world around us can be.
Don’t forget to be amazed.
Here is that tune by the way: Inishlacken: Evening Ceili
Cheers,
