Here is a long way around the block, but an important reminder nonetheless. I had never heard of phytoncides before. What a great bonus!
Read the article in this link and then get outside! (When the Van Pelt’s came to the US from Holland a few hundred years ago, they changed their name to Swaim. Swaim is an acronym and a much longer story, but Dutch anyway. Three cheers for my people.)

I recently discovered that my family descended from a Swaim. We reach a dead end for ancestors on his side of the family, but, the atory is the same. A few generations before him the family came the U.S. from Holland and changed their last name to an acronym of the British Rebellion Organization they were a part of. The story is vague on detail and we've always wondered what Swaim was an acronym for. I was reaching out today to possibly get some family history :) Cheers, MB

Mathias, I think I can help you. I have understood that we were Van Pelts in Holland before the switch to Swaim. As far as the BRO, my grandfather told me it was "Sworn to Withhold Alligence for Invading Monarchs" . I recently met a distant cousin with the maden name Swaim, and she is Mormon and so has dug up more of the Swaim past. Would you like to meet her? Where are you locted?
