Hey there friends!
It’s Abbey, and today I’m here to close out our month focused on the heart. A reminder again, if you missed why your heart is so important to your health: it does pretty much EVERYTHING for us! (Dr. Swaim laid it out clearly in his blog here).
Last time, we talked about Cardio-Plus, which has the essential vitamins that your heart eats up. Today, we’re going to talk about Cataplex® B-Core, a complex of B vitamins that help your heart to beat at a normal rhythm. That’s a good thing! Beyond that, we use B vitamins in many of our metabolic processes in the body, so this is just a great general support product too. I’ll give you the details below. Let’s get to it!
What:
Cataplex® B-Core is a whole food, non-synthetic B complex. It contains the 8 B vitamins currently recognized and classified, plus some that were reclassified – such as B4, now usually called adenine, and some that haven’t even been classified! The whole foods, B-Core contains, are specific for up-regulating motor nerve conduction, in highly concentrated amounts. Let me reiterate – these are naturally occurring complexes. Standard Process includes rice bran, nutritional yeast, liver, defatted wheat germ, carrot root, beet root, and desiccated adrenal gland, providing over 25 vitamins, minerals, and co-enzymes as revealed by the USDA’s assays on these foods. The broad category of B vitamins help metabolize the nutrients you consume to produce the energy you need.
How:
Cataplex® B-Core comes in tablet form. Dosage is dependent on what you are trying to accomplish. Typically, we recommend between 2-4 per day, though higher dosages may be necessary for a time.
Where:
We consistently stock B-Core in the office, so stop in and grab some! And as always, it’s also available online here.
Why:
B vitamins are involved in many of the metabolic processes in your body, often as precursors or pieces of the systems that allow you to process energy. Since they are often precursors, your body takes them and turns them into the form that it needs. B vitamins are water soluble, so they can’t be stored in the body. Since we can’t store them, we need to get a regular supply every day. Of course, it’s great to get them from our food sources where possible, like liver, but if the body needs a little boost, that’s where B-Core comes in. By supporting nerve regulation and providing those B complexes that help metabolize energy, the heart very quickly begins moving toward normal function. In addition, vitamin B4 (adenine) is the key to up-regulating motor nerve conduction. When it was first discovered, it was called “the anti-paralysis factor” based on its effects of improving polyneuritis (peripheral nerve inflammation) in chicks (1). We don’t call adenine a vitamin anymore, because your body produces it. BUT adenine is present in just about every biomolecule in your body, including your DNA. Because it helps regulate motor nerve function, the heart receives the proper electrical impulses, rather than weak or inconsistent ones, which is what causes things like atrial fibrillation. Better healing can happen overall when the heart is doing what it is supposed to.
Folks, don’t forget, we don’t recommend every supplement for every person. We all have unique responses and needs, and we’re here to help you find the right plan for you. If you’re interested in going more in-depth with your health, call us and set-up a nutritional consult. We want you to feel the best you can! But remember, health comes from you, not to you!
Cheers!
